Storytime: Clouds

Books

“Moongame” by Frank Asch
“Cloudette” by Tom Lichtenheld

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

Zoom, zoom, zoom (rub hands in the air)
We’re going to the moon
Zoom, zoom, zoom
We’re going to the moon
If you want to take a trip
Climb aboard my rocket ship (walk hands up arm)
Zoom, zoom, zoom
We’re going to the moon
In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (count on fingers)
BLAST OFF! (raise arms)

The Rain is Falling Down in Drops (Tune: The Ants Go Marching)

The rain is falling down in drops (wiggle fingers down)
Drip drop, drip drop (tap thighs to beat)
The rain is falling down in drops
Drip drop, drip drop
The rain is falling down in drops
We can’t play until it stops (shake finger side to side)
Oh the rain is falling down
To the ground
Where is makes lots of mud
Squish, squish, squish (tap floor)

Five Little Clouds

Five little clouds, so white and plain
The first one said “I want to make it rain” (wiggle fingers down)
The second one said, “Where are we?” (shrug shoulders)
The third on said, “In the sky, don’t you see?” (point up)
The fourth one said, “Let’s go, go, go” (running motion with arms)
The fifth one said, “Look out below!” (shade eyes with hand)
Then out came the stars, out came the moon
And the clouds rolled away but they’ll be back again soon (roll arms)

It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw

I turned the book “It Looked Like Spilt Milk” into a flannel board using a template from Kidzclub!

How it Went: I had high hopes for the “It Looked Like Spilt Milk” flannel board but the kids seemed to be confused by it. I do plan on using it again but maybe when there are more preschoolers or when I visit a kindergarten class. Overall the storytime went smoothly and kids loved zoom, zoom, zoom.
